Turas Press features in The Bookseller
On September 9th 2022, Turas Press was featured in a double-page spread in the Ireland Issue of The Bookseller! Journalist Julie Vuong interviewed Turas Press Director Liz McSkeane. They discussed the genesis and evolution of Turas Press, as well as the strengths and challenges that face independent publishers.
The spread included a generous inset dedicated to the stunning Spanish Civil War novel In The Dark by Anamaría Crowe Serrano, which Turas Press published in June, 2021.
The Bookseller is the most significant trade magazine of the UK books industry, so this is major coverage for a small, indie press, which we greatly appreciate
“One of the strengths of small, independent publishers is having flexibility to provide a platform for work that may not conform to the tried-and-tested formulae that the bigger publishers often (though not always) prefer.” Liz McSkeane, Director.
Turas Press at Culture Night, 2022
By kind invitation of the Instituto Cervantes, Dublin, Turas Press took part in the activities which the Instituto presented for 2022 Culture Night! Culture Night is a ‘national moment, celebrating culture, creativity and the arts,’ funded by the Arts Council and local authorities throughout Ireland, took place on September 23rd. The Instituto Cervantes in Dublin invited Liz McSkeane to participate in a panel with writers who read from and discuss their work. Liz read from Canticle, her historical detective fiction novel based on the life of one of Spain’s greatest poets, St John of the Cross.
